Metta Bhavana, or loving-kindness meditation, is one of my favourite meditations that has roots in Buddhist Traditions.
It's a beautiful way to cultivate a sense of compassion and soften into the deeper layers of ourselves that sometimes an keep us closed off from the love that is already all around us. As Bjork sings so beautifully... all is full of love sometimes we just "ain't receiving it".
A Weekly Dose of Metta Bhavana
Why practice Metta Bhavana regularly?
You can focus on nurturing positive emotions
It can help reduce feelings of anger or resentment
It helps you develop a sense of inner peace
It can promote emotional healing, self worth and encourages empathy
It can build hope and faith in an uncertain world
As with all practices, if you regularly integrate it into your life then the effects run deeper and can start to positively affect your day outside the time you set for practicing.
Below is a short and sweet 8 minute meditation that will guide you through a simple yet effective practice.
