To align with the gradual emergence of longer nights and shorter days, we will delve into earth-based and yogic practices that support us in surrendering to a new rhythm so that we can enter the season ahead with a renewed sense of balance and purpose.

Literally nestled in nature, with 360 degree views of tree-speckled horizons is Holwell Holistic Retreat Centre in North Devon.

 

You'll be free to roam 5 acres of land enjoying scenic saunas, orchard wanders, woodland walks and stone circle celebrations.

 

We’ll rise with the sun in the yoga studio and sink into the night with sound healings and relaxation.

Practices include Grounding Vinyasa Yoga, Yin Yoga, Sound Healing, Voice and Breath, Self Massage and Yoga Nidra.

Anz is a dedicated yoga and meditation teacher, bodyworker, and sound therapist with over seven years of experience supporting others on their journey toward holistic wellbeing.

 

Her approach, rooted in yoga and Buddhist philosophy, offers practices that nurture both physical and mental health.​ 

Currently training with the British Academy of Sound Therapy in Holistic Voice Therapy, Anz continues to explore new ways to integrate therapeutic sound and voice into her work as a yoga and meditation facilitator.

 

Her workshops and retreats invite a return to inner balance through presence, embodiment, nature, and sound.

Mark qualified as a Hatha yoga teacher with Rory Viggers and Dory Walker in 2021. He has continued self study in Iyengar yoga with senior teachers in Amsterdam.

Mark has since dived into a range of meditation styles (including Zen). Over the last 3 years he expanded his movement practices and has been training in Chen style Tai Chi with Mark Leonard including yearly seminars from Master Chen Yingjun. 

Yoga means yoke or union and Mark endeavours to live with this principle; holding seemingly separate facets of life (professionally as a lecturer, scientist and musician as well as personally) in an intimate conversation that allows growth and space. Mark hopes to share practices that can enable others to do the same.

 

Sarah is our amazing cook who is all about nutritional therapy and will be providing gorgeously scrummy balanced meals. She's also an amazing singer and brings joy into every room she walks into.

Our meals will be fresh, grounding, colourful and with a nice dose of sweetness and indulgence with desserts.

Is this yoga retreat suitable for beginners?

Yes, our guided practices are designed for all levels. Whether you're new to yoga or looking to deepen your practice, you'll feel right at home.

Are there opportunities for alone time?

If you're seeking relaxation and worry about being over-scheduled then fear not, there is free time for solace or connecting with your fellow yogis.

Are the yoga sessions suitable for my physical limitations?

Sessions will always be tailored to the room with options to be more gentle, and other modifications if you want to build more fire and heat in the body.

Is the retreat location easy to get to?

Yes, from Bristol it is a 2h15 drive. From Bath it is a 2h45 drive. The closest train station is Barnstaple which is a 20 minute taxi drive to the retreat centre. 

Are you mats & props included?

Yes the yoga studio has all the mats, blocks, bolsters, blankets and cosy things we need. Bring warm socks & jumpers for extra luxury in the evening.

What is the daily itinerary?

The schedule is flexible but a sample day could look like. You can take extra time out to yourself if you need:

  • 14:00 |  Afternoon Session + hot drink & snack
