Practices to Ground This Autumn | Self Massage

As the air becomes crisp and the days grow shorter, autumn invites us to slow down, turn inward, and replenish our energies.

This season of transition is a perfect time to ground yourself and create space for reflection and renewal. This 3 part series of blog posts shares simple yet potent practices that you can use at home to embrace the essence of autumn and stay connected to your inner balance.

Self-Massage with Warming Oils

As the temperature drops, our bodies can become tense, and our skin can feel dry. Self-massage, or Abhyanga, is a beautiful way to nourish your body and mind during autumn. Using warm, grounding oils like sesame or almond oil, you can soothe your nervous system, improve circulation, and create a sense of warmth and comfort.

How to Practice:

  • Warm your chosen oil slightly and apply it generously to your entire body, using long, gentle strokes on the limbs and circular motions on the joints.

  • Take your time, focusing on areas where you feel tension or dryness.

  • After your massage, take a warm bath or shower, allowing the oil to deeply penetrate your skin.
